I’m having a Libra Baby…

Ok so I’m not big on checking my horoscope, but one of the baby sites I visit had this fun tool where you could read about your baby and their sign. So since Baby Helms is due in October, we are having a Libra Baby.

Just for enjoy reading about the Libra Baby:

The Libra baby will revel in the attention of others from the get-go. That baby whom everyone is cooing over at the doctor's office? Yes, it's a Libra. Passive yet charming, people can't help fawning all over this sun-kissed child. Perhaps it's the way a Libra baby smiles when others swoon. Whatever the case may be, this child is possessed of the most endearing qualities. Even-tempered and sweet in disposition, the Libra baby loves to have others around and would much rather be with company than alone. In a group, this child will mix quite well with others, displaying the very Libran qualities of sociability and diplomacy. The Libra tot is a born mediator, perhaps prepping early on for a career as a lawyer or judge. Loving fancy touches, the Libra child is not likely to take well to hand-me-downs, especially girls! These are kids who love to feel pretty, and the best clothes are a big step in that direction. Comfort is also important to this child, so clean, pressed clothes and a snappy room are an added plus. Sense a bit of control here? Well, the Libra child does know how to be manipulative, although they manage to do it in the nicest way. To sum up, the Libra baby likes to talk, loves to socialize, and is a splendid (and even-handed) addition to any play group. Let the games begin!

To Dispose or Not to Dispose?

Isn’t that the ultimate question? As new parents, we read that we should try everything when it comes to diapers to figure out what works best for us. But is that really affordable? For some new parents the decision is easy, they knew before conceiving whether or not they were going to use disposable diapers or cloth diapers.

Well, let me tell you, Robby and I have no clue what we are going to use. Where do we even start?

I know how about I make a list of all the diaper brands I know of. Alright, get ready, get set go:

Disposable:
Huggies
Pampers
Luvs

Cloth:
gDiapers (www.gdiapers.com)
FuzziBunz (www.fuzzibunz.com/fuzzi_details.php)
bumGenius (www.bumgenius.com/one-size.php)
Bummies (www.bummis.com)

Ok, so there’s my list. Now what?

Are cloth diapers better for the baby?
Are disposables easier to deal with?
Aren’t cloth diapers more affordable in the long run?
There would be less cleaning with disposables.
But the cloth ones are just so cute.

Ahhh!! More to come on our quest to figure out - To Dispose or Not to Dispose?

Scary...

Oh my, I just saw this picture and thought it was pretty darn scary....

God help us some day.

A Story Before Bed

Today I stumbled upon this awesome website, A Story Before Bed. This site allows you to record yourself (using a webcam) reading a book so your child or grandchild can then watch and listen to anytime, as many times as wanted.

The site is great for grandparents that don’t live close to their grandchildren as well as parents that may be on a business trip and unable to read a bedtime story to their child.

You can record for free, but the book/recording only cost $6.99 to be able to save as a link and allow the child to watch over and over again.

Right now, there are about 60 books available to choose from.

Head over to the website: www.astorybeforebed.com to watch a demo as well as see all the available books.

Pretty neat uh?

Yes, Baby Helms Does Have a Face…

So far, Baby Helms weighs about 5 oz and is the size of an onion.

Baby can also now hear me! It’s little ear bones are now in place, so Robby and I can talk to baby and he/she will start recognizing our voices. And yes – Robby has already had a conversation is his son/daughter.

Baby is also gaining some body fat, so it doesn’t look so translucent. And Baby can now swallow and suck.

A few days of ago – I actually felt Baby Helms moving! It’s called feeling flutters. I was lying in bed about to fall asleep and there it was. I felt my baby! Almost brought tears to my eyes.

Did I mention that I have to have Ice Cream every day and Taco Bell is the best food of all time?

Take a look at what Baby Helms looks like:

As most of you already know, we find out if Baby Helms is a boy or a girl next Tuesday morning. If you haven’t already added your guess in the Baby Pool – do so now!

This might upset you all – but I figured it would be better to give you a heads up. We aren’t telling anyone right away what the sex is. I know we are evil aren’t we? Don’t worry, you will know on the 4th, but when you find out is up to us! Haha

Also, once the gender of Baby Helms is determined; a new blog background will be installed. The basic, generic dots are killing me!

Registering for Baby Helms

When you’re pregnant, you read and you ask lot of questions. I knew that when came to registering for Baby Helms that it was going to be overwhelming. If you look at a standard “What to Register For” list – it’s ridiculous! (Do we really need 4 different kinds of strollers?) I read what I could, I asked other young mommies about it and after all the advice I read and received, Robby and I made the decision that I would register with my mom and not Robby.

Now let me tell you WHY this was such a great idea.

Anyone who knows Robby, well, knows that this was a smart decision. The process took my mom and me only 2 hours to complete. There were no tears; there were no arguments or fights and no impatient daddies-to-be getting tired of looking at the crib mattresses or sheet sets for more than 20 minutes trying to figure out which one to buy.

I had fun registering for Baby Helms with my mom (Grandma Fleetwood). She brought up a lot of great points on products and was very budget conscious, but still wanted what was best for baby.

And most importantly, there were no tears and Robby didn’t have to lose his mind in baby world. Plus, I got the gun all to myself! (Robby went a little crazy when registered for our wedding.)

By the way: We will be adding more stuff like cloths and more gender specific stuff once we find out what Baby Helms is. But if you would like to check out our registry here’s the link:

I’ll take the Pregger Pants Over Regular Pants Anyday!

Let me start off by saying, maternity pants, they get a bad rap! I have been wearing these pants for the last week or so and I LOVE them. They are stylish and comfy. Many preggers will tell you that they tend to get fatter the as the day goes by, with maternity pants, there are no buttons or zippers making things ridiculously uncomfortable.

Motherhood Maternity is my new favorite store. Seriously, I love it.
When you try on maternity clothes, and your baby bump is almost non-existent (as mine was and still seems to be) they give you a strap on bump to wear so you can see what you will look like when you try the clothes on. Umm…yeah pretty cool.

Check out this picture I sent to Aunt Care:

Text read something along the lines of – “You haven’t seen my baby bump yet!”

I came across this video today, and I had to share. It is absolutely hysterical. If you don't think this little girl is Robby and my future child then your crazy! You must watch the whole thing!
